SUMMARY:Maha Shivaratri Puja
DESCRIPTION:“Mahaa Shivaratri” means “the great night of Lord Shiva” and is the appointed astrological time to be immersed in the contemplation and worship of Lord Shiva. The energy of this night makes it particularly auspicious and appropriate to be dedicated to Shiva\, the form of the Divine that destroys obstacles\, loosens bonds and brings Spiritual Realization to completion. The Hindu Scriptures declare that anyone who observes the worship on this night will receive a direct blessing and uplift from Shiva Himself.\n\nThe night-long puja (worship) will be led by Acharya Mangalananda\, a direct American disciple of the great woman Saint\, Sri Anandamayi Ma. He has observed this yearly worship for many years and will lead the simple offerings and chanting\, also sharing his experiences of visiting many of the ancient\, sacred Shiva shrines throughout India. The night will pass in heartfelt offerings\, chanting\, reading of Scriptures and stories.

We’ll sing some kirtan\, read Ma’s words and discuss them\, sing the Ma Chalisa\, do some meditation and arati in a very informal setting. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a kirtan with my full band in Berkeley to benefit the School I helped start and still administrate in Omkareshwar\, India. \n  \n\n\n\n\nMusical fundraiser in Berkeley–Saturday\, February 28th\nAcharya Mangalananda will be sharing kirtan with his full band of talented musicians.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnce again Thacher and Olivia Hurd will be hosting their annual fundraising concert for the Ashram School run by Swami Gurusharanananda in India\, on Feb 28th.\n  \nNew Location: The kirtan this year will be held this year at the Berkeley Yoga Center\, Studio C\, at 2121 Bonar St. in Berkeley. (see map and instructions below)\n \nSchedule:\n6pm: Indian snacks in Thacher’s studio  (Studio D\, right next door to Studio C)\n \n7pm to 9pm Kirtan in Studio C with Mangalananda’s full band.\n \nAcharya Mangalananda\, one of the founders of the school\, will share the spirited kirtan of village India. This call and response chanting represents the deepest tradition of devotional chant and healing vibrations.
